Revive MS Support, the charity that provides vital therapy, advice and support to people affected by Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in the heart of communities across the West of Scotland, has been chosen as Dobbies Braehead local charity of the year...
Cara Thom, fundraising and communications manager, Revive MS Support, said: “We are very grateful to be named Dobbies Braehead local charity of the year – an opportunity that will go a long way towards helping us achieve our fundraising target to relocate to a new facility in Govan, which will enhance greatly the support we can offer to our clients.”
Lorraine McKay, Community Champion, Dobbies Braehead, said: “Being part of the community is important to us, which is why each year Dobbies stores partner with a chosen charity to fundraise in-store. Our stores offer a Local Charity Partners are encouraged to fundraise as much as possible in store, with the opportunity to host fundraising days if partners can support this. “
This year, for the first time, Dobbies Local Charity Partners will benefit from the 5p plastic bag charge (rather than a national charity). Local partners will be asked to collect and manage any other funds raised in store. “Revive MS Support presented a very impressive application; made time to inform us of its charity goals and its forward planning. We are delighted to be part of this and look forward to working with Revive MS Support to make the most of this opportunity.”
Revive recently concluded that, in order to better serve the needs of its clients, as well as be there for potential clients, it needed more space to grow and develop. After an extensive search, the charity found Moorpark Court in Govan; a modern building within which it can devise a purpose-led layout and with ample space for development of services for the future.
It is now just £150,000 short of reaching its target for the capital side of the campaign, which will enable it to purchase the property and fit it out. The charity has a total fundraising target of £1.5 million, which will fund staff and running costs and developing the services to clients post-relocation.
Revive MS Support hopes to have reached its funding target by March with a view to moving into its new premises in Govan in the autumn. Donors include RS MacDonald Trust, which has pledged £30,000 and the Robertson Trust, which has donated 10% of the capital funding. You can make a donation by clicking here.
