Revive MS Support, the charity that provides vital therapy, advice and support to people affected by Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in the heart of communities across the West of Scotland, is to relocate from its cramped, outdated premises in Maryhill, Glasgow to a larger, fit-for-purpose facility at Govan.
The charity’s Board of Trustees has given the go-ahead for the £1.1 million purchase and fit-out of Pavilion 7 Moorpark Court, Govan, with work anticipated to start on site in May.
The decision to proceed has been made on the back of The Robertson Trust agreeing to contribute some £203,000 towards the project costs. The R S Macdonald Charitable Trust has already pledged £30,000 and has indicated a willingness to donate more.
Revive recently concluded that, in order to better serve the needs of its clients, as well as be there for potential clients, it needed more space to grow and develop. After an extensive search, the charity found a modern building in Govan within which it can devise a purpose-led layout and with ample space for development of services for the future.
Easily accessible from the M8 and just two miles from The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, the new centre’s facilities include: a larger café area; a gym; a meeting/group room; hyberbaric oxygen therapy, seven spacious therapy rooms and 23 dedicated car parking spaces.
Iain Morrison, chief executive, Revive MS Support, said: “Our new accommodation will enhance our services in many ways: we will have more space, which will improve the delivery of existing services; we will be able to increase the number of appointments, as well as expand our group work and exercise classes and we will be able to help more people affected by MS in the Greater Glasgow area and beyond.”
