Edrington Group pours £25,000 into local MS charity
Distillery staff show they've got the bottle in their 180-mile 24hr Endurance Run 2012 fundraising bid.
Big-hearted staff – which included CEO Ian Curle – at a Glasgow distillery tested their own bottle in a gruelling 24-hour endurance run to raise £15,000 for Revive MS Support. Their aim was to run continually for 24 hours around their Bottling and Blending facility at Great Western Road, Glasgow. This test of endurance begun at 7.52am on Saturday 31 March 2012.
The run was organised by keen fundraiser Max McFarlane, Highland Park Whisky Maker.
More people in Scotland live with MS than any other country in the world, and Revive MS Support is an incredible grassroots resource
We wanted to do something really different to mark the 50th Anniversary of charitable donations at The Edrington Group’s parent company, The Robertson Trust – which was set up to help provide financial support to charities that work in or have an impact on Scotland. Everyone in the team was motivated through the entire challenge by the contribution they were making to helping others through supporting the amazing work of Revive.”
More people in Scotland live with MS than any other country in the world, and Revive MS Support is an incredible grassroots resource – reliant on donations, legacies and trusts – which so many people rely on in order for them to, live as independently as possible, have access to a support network and a range of physical and leisure activities in the community and access to continual expert medical advice.
Team Edrington's aim was to provide funds to allow Revive MS Support to continue to be a resource and provide support for everyone affected by MS. Edrington's owners, The Robertson Trust, celebrated their 50th year of charitable donations, and helped the event by by providing a fantastic £2 for every £1 raised.
