Charity Ambassador – Laura Muir
Revive MS Support are delighted to name European 1500 metre champion, Laura Muir as our first sporting Charity Ambassador.
Laura is keen to highlight how staying physically active can help people with this degenerative disease to keep their symptoms at bay. Research has shown that exercise can improve mobility and fatigue as it helps people with MS to build muscular strength and aerobic capacity.
“I have seen first-hand the difference Revive makes to the lives of people with MS as well as their carers,” Muir said. “From gym-based activities to the oxygen chamber, the centre constantly aims to provide holistic, innovative and outcomes-focused care packages for its clients.”
Muir, who has already won five indoor and outdoor European gold medals, made a bid to beat the world 1,000 metre indoor record at the Muller Indoor Grand Prix in Glasgow in February 2020. She is hoping to fulfil her goal of securing a place on the Olympic podium in Tokyo later in 2020.
“It’s great to welcome Laura as our first ever sporting Charity Ambassador,” Revive MS Support CEO Iain Morrison said. “Last year, we supported over 2000 people affected by MS. Much of the work that our physiotherapy team does centres on exercise and mobility, so it is fitting that Laura is becoming our Ambassador. We look forward to working with Laura in the months and years ahead as we seek to help more people in more places.”
