A. GENERAL COURSES In 2007, Revive MS Support pioneered an innovative new course entitled "Windows on MS - casting light on a complex condition". This event aimed to help raise awareness and standards of care amongst staff working at all levels of the health and social care sectors. Courses ran in June and November and were full to capacity with a health and social care staff from a diverse range of disciplines and organisations, all keen to expand their knowledge of Multiple Sclerosis as a condition and what treatment and practical help is available for their patients/clients as well as to improve their own level of care. Further courses are in the pipeline but no dates have been set at present. Watch this space! B. SPECIALIST PHYSIOTHERAPY COURSES
An Integrated Approach to the Pelvic Girdle, Hip, Knee, Ankle Joint and Foot One of Revive’s Physiotherapists, Claire MacIntyre, organised a two day course with Helen Thomson on the 19th of January and the 2nd of February 2008. It was co-hosted by Claire and Francoise Schyns, Physiotherapy Co-ordinator at Revive. The course was designed to appraise and rectify skeletal, fascial and muscle imbalance. Helen and her colleague, Val Munro, worked through the assessment of the body in standing, sitting and lying then taught the appropriate treatment techniques for the various findings. The treatments included release, fascial recoil and muscle energy techniques. 14 delegates attended and all reported to be highly satisfied by the quality of teaching and the content of the course and all seemed inspired by Helen and Val’s enthusiasm for their work! In response to the feedback from delegates, it is proposed that Revive will host another of Helen’s courses in November 2008 which will focus on the diaphragm, rib cage and neck region. If you would be interested in attending this course, please contact Claire on 0141 945 3344. |
