As part of the development of services and the skills base of our professional staff team, Revive MS Support is involved in a number of research-based activities. Recent projects include Pain Management in MS, a feasibility study into the social, education and recreational needs of people with MS, and an ongoing in-depth analysis of the palliative care needs of people with MS.
Current projects include the following:
- Revive phsyio Francoise Schyns is leading a study looking at the effects of vibration therapy on tone, strength, sensation and functional performance in people with MS in partnership with Caledonian University and The MS Trust .
- Glasgow Caledonian Lecturer and Physiotherapist Fiona Moffat has secured funding to carry out a small study looking at “Barriers and motivators to carrying out physical activity programmes in individuals with Multiple Sclerosis”. Participants will be recruited from our outreach clinics at Douglas, Cathcart and East Kilbride.
- Local community physiotherapist Suzanne Marshall is carrying out a survey entitled ““What effect does carer strain have on the carer’s active engagement in the rehabilitation of people with MS?”
- Sebastien Chastin of Glasgow Caledonian is carrying out a study investigating the benefits of the activPAL activity monitor for people with altered gait, with participants drawn from our Cathcart outreach.
